Annotation
This book provides an ethnopragmatic analysis of a particular Samoan speech event, the FONO, village assembly debates tackling day-to-day decision making and dispute-settlement in which orators -titled chiefs- challenge each other's political status and ethical positions, thereby using and refreshing Samoan cultural notions of person, agency, responsibility and local values in general.
