Annotation
This study of the (mis)pronunciation of French names in New Orleans, primarily based on telephone interviews with bearers of French names, sets out to define pronunciation in terms used by a majority of speakers and discusses remarks by bearers on their attitudes towards mispronunciations of their names and their ways of correcting interlocutors.
