Annotation
M. rejects the widespread Limited Access Hypothesis' account of creole genesis as originating in plantation social structure and the (assumed) limited access to European languages, and replaces it by an Afrogenesis Hypothesis which states that plantation creoles are transplants of a West African pidgin. Unlike past theories, special attention is paid to Spanish American plantation contexts and Spanish creoles.
