This article discusses pronominal choice in the political discourse of two participants in a conference on the Mexican Chiapas revolt of January 1994. The concept of speaker involvement is reanalyzed in order to distinguish between the speaker's commitment to his own words, his identification with other individuals or groups and his involvement with the topic.
