Annotation

This study argues that the change in emphasis within parliamentary debates about BSE, from a concern with the public's health and science to national identity, is related to the avoidance and attribution of blame for the disease. The functions of this shift can be explored from a discursive psychological analysis of the identities constructed by politicians in BSE discussions.
