This paper examines how the discursive constitution of meta-perspective causes the unequal communication structure characterizing contemporary Western-Arab relations. The analyzed material is taken from popular literature on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and from American conversational data on Middle East-West relations in the wake of the Gulf Crisis.
