This paper concerns the way in which constructions often referred to in terms of 'raising' could be handled in the framework of a theory of functional grammar which does not allow transformations in the sense of structure-changing operations. A description is proposed, in which an extension of the theory of FG is required in the area of Subj and Obj assignment.
