This paper examines the charachteristics of former Japanese Prime Minister Takeshita's political speech style, analyzing his 1992 testimony in the Tokyo Sagawa Kyuubin money-and-mobster scandal. It is argued that involvement and integrity strategies play an important role along with the juxtaposition of different semiotic contexts.
