Annotation
This analysis of Finnish-Finnish and Finnish-American business telephone conversations identifies various intercultural differences: Finnish-speakers emphasize the non-topical element, English-speakers focus on the business episode; the 'how are you' sequence is an element of formal opening for English-speakers, an introduction to non-topical sequence for Finnish-speakers; and English-speakers tend to interrupt more than Finns.
