Annotation
This analysis of a comparable set of native and non-native American English lectures, shows varying syntactic patterns, which, in the former case, signal logical and prominence relations. It is thus argued that, within a situated context, specific linguistic forms function as meta-discourse markers that guide listeners with respect to discursive information integration.
