This paper discusses the protection of linguistic human rights (LHRs) in existing covenants, in particular UN declarations and the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, and reviews LHRs-promotion in various international fora. Respect for LHRs in education is considered as a means of reducing societal conflict and promoting more righteous multilingual societies.
