Annotation
This book challenges many prestigious theories and methods in foreign language teaching and acquisition and criticizes in particular Canadian immersion programmes. Its is argued that they do not result in accurate communication -but rather bring about a pidgin interlanguage- and that they should be replaced by bilingual instruction focusing on grammar.
