Annotation

This paper suveys some research into spoken Hungarian carried out since the 1980s, in particular two sister projects (1987): the Hungarian National Sociolinguistic Survey and the Survey of Spoken Hungarian. Data from these pilot interviews are then used to examine the effect of spelling -in casu the typewriter effect- on reading style.
