Annotation

An empirical study of some of the ways in which participants use language in actual historical processes (with reference to texts from the McCarthyist period). The attempt is to study the relation between utterances in discourse and the coherent system of beliefs that they encode, and to show how this belief system is taken for granted as 'shared knowledge' by participants in rapid conversational exchanges.
