This collection comprises a selection of papers on disparate topics, presented at meetings of the Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics in 1996 and 1997, that fall mainly into four categories: papers based on fieldwork and data-analysis; in-depth surveys and syntheses of previously published research; detailed surveys of a specific linguistic aspect; and 'think pieces'.
