Annotation

This paper examines patterns of variation in the spoken urban Arabic of Maiduguri, Nigeria, prominent for the lack of predictable grouping parameters, and relates them to the socio-politico-demographic context in which the speakers live, focusing on the impact of a language's minority status on the development of linguistic norms within its speech community.
