Annotation

This paper explores whether students in transitional bilingual education programmes, cope with complex subject matters taught in a language they do not yet know very well. It thereto observed primary and secondary Inuktitut classrooms in which students received instruction in their second language, i.e. English or French. The findings suggest that for many students the cognitively demanding language of the classroom is beyond their grasp.
