Annotation
This paper deals with language use in the regional University of the South Pacific, owned by and serving twelve Pacific countries. English was the major medium of instruction at USP, until the Pacific Languages Unit was established in 1983, and USP began offering short intensive courses in Pacific languages such as Bislama and Fijian, and approved a Pacific Vernaculars Programme.
