The paper questions the appropriateness of the cultural content of educational materials, allegedly suitable for global dissemination, with specific reference to the Yoruba world-view and the widespread failures of foreign-aided educational programmes in sub-Saharan Africa, which often force students into a defensive attitude, due to unnecessary and false cultural assumptions.
