Annotation

This paper examines whether dialect levelling processes can account for the features of the new dialect of Corby (Northamptonshire), that arose out of the contact between the displaced Scottish and indigenous English town inhabitants. The analysis combines different perspectives in order to socially embed the interpretation of the data with reference to the identity issues brought about by this contact situation.
