Annotation

This paper argues that Language education policy is a contested area in which political conflicts are played out and inequality relations are symbolically expressed and challenged. It explores the language policy paradox from the viewpoint of a Sikh parent campaign aimed at introducing Punjabi into the curriculum of secondary school in Leeds, England.
