Annotation

This study on the Cajun French dialect of Louisiana, using Foucault's work on knowledge and power, argues that language loss constitutes a social and a discursive process and that academic knowledge and discourse play an important role in language politics. The study encourages the use of local knowledge to further our comprehension of sociolinguistic issues that include unequal power relationships.
