Annotation

This study presents an approach which recognizes, challenges, and resists the linguistic hegemony of English in American bilingual education, based on a case study of an American-Spanish bilingual fourth-grade classroom, in which the teacher managed to create an environment, in which neither English nor Spanish are dominant. It is argued that this approach liberates, enriches and empowers linguistic minority-children.
