Annotation

This study shows that English-Maltese code-switching practices in secondary classrooms in Malta, serve as a communicative resource in constructing knowledge across the curriculum, in interacting with monolingual English texts, and in building relationships with one another. It moreover constitutes a means to either convey friendliness or formality and to avoid being dubbed as either purist or snob.
