This paper argues that events, scenes, actions and actors exist thanks to the part they play in higher order relationships which can be considered as plot formation in the human drama context. A range of empirical investigations illustrate how children of different ages and languages distinguish between language forms and functions in their construction of events, scenes, actions and actors as part-whole relationships.
