This study elicited four possible readings for French pronominal-verbal construction from francophone and non-Francophone university students in English/French translation: reflexive, reciprocal, intrinsic, and passive. In the light of the results and the problems found, dictionary and grammar explanations of the verb meanings in these constructions were explored.
