This study of lexical characteristics of auditory misperceptions, reveals no difference in word-frequency, neighborhood density, and neighborhood frequency between the actual and the perceived utterances. A comparison of auditory misperceptions and words in general, demonstrates that the former have denser neighborhoods, higher neighborhood frequency, and higher occurrence frequency than words in general.
