Annotation

This paper uses a visual lexical decision task to examine control processes in proficient German–English bilinguals, in particular with respect to the recognition of interlingual homographs, such as the low-frequency English word TAG, a relatively high frequency word in German, meaning 'day'. The patterns of interference and carry-over demonstrate that the main locus for reducing interference is external to the bilingual lexico-semantic system.
