This study examines whether age of onset of bilingualism affects ultimate attainment, and illustrates incomplete acquisition and attrition of Spanish tense/aspect morphology in adult Spanish-English bilinguals. The findings suggest that morpho-phonological spell-outs and semantic characteristics of functional categories are influenced by incomplete learning and language loss, and that many of the patterns of divergence found relate to stages of second language acquisition.
