This study analyzed narratives produced by four bilingual Irish-English speakers, based on pictures from the Mercer Mayer book Frog, according to certain features of global and local structure. Variations within and across narratives as to the number of components included and explicitly marked for purpose, tense and aspect marking, and the use of extended aspectual categories, were attributed to the language of the narrative, the order in which the narrative was told, and the specific preferences of individual narrators.
