This study shows that children with histories of early language delay obtain lower syntax, story grammar, and ealuative information factor scores for oral narrative productions than typically developing peers. This suggests that the use of narrative structure may be a specific domain of underachievement for late talkers, in addition to their continuing weakness in syntactic and lexical abilities, when compared to typically developing peers from the same background.
