Annotation

This study explores whether identification measures for children at risk for reading failure are applicable to children from different language backgrounds. The findings show that despite a poorer performance on most measures of phonological and linguistic processing, bilingual and English second language children developed basic literacy skills in a similar way as native English speakers.
