Annotation
This study examines differences in African American English (AAE) dialect use across generations, by analyzing play interactions between primary caregivers and their young children. Differences are found in the structure and use of individual AAE features, but there are also many similarities that highlight the kinship ties of older and younger interactants, and their membership of the same linguistic community.
