Annotation

This commentary suggests to situate frequency in an overarching theoretical framework of language acquisition. Three issues are examined in detail: the way innate or initial cognition deals with stimulus frequency; the likelihood of a different impact of frequency according to the type of knowledge concerned; and preliminary evidence that frequency influences more the receptive than the productive language knowledge.
