Annotation

This observation study of a Finnish business manager's discourse activities, describes the communication environment and the flow and nature of the activities, and discusses some examples of the discourse. Salient features include: the 'native corporate language' status of English, intertextuality, parallel and mixed use of spoken and written language, and the decisive role of e-mail as a communication medium. The concepts of literacy and discourse community were used in the discourse analysis.
