Annotation

This paper exemplifies how discourse analysis, in casu of the Airspeak in a Turkish Civil Aviation School, enhances teacher knowledge of English for Specific Purposes and contributes to the development of enhanced course materials. The findings indicate that even in such a restricted and globally monitored language as aviation English, local variations emerge in the use of greetings, the pronunciation of numbers, and through the extended use of Turkish.
