Annotation

This study shows that number processing in Dutch is not arbitrary and that in daily life specific sets of numbers are favoured. An explanation is based on Dehaene's claim of the use of an analogue magnitude code in estimating and comparing, suggesting that human cognition is able to perform simple calculations with quantities, independently of any counting or number system.
