This paper argues that learning how to carry out conceptual activities to write assignments can be profitably transferred from the English for Academic Purposes classroom in business studies to university content classes. The results of this study also have important implications for first and second language writing pedagogy, for course design and for the preparation of teaching assistants in academic content classes.
