Annotation
This study explores whether the tutoring of second language writing varies according to the instructional approach or the language of communication. The tutoring discourse appears to be highly normative and cooperative tutor-student efforts to solve problems in the students' draft compositions are mainly guided by the tutors' decision making; some individual tutors however explicitly solicit students' input to the discourse.
