Annotation

This paper tests Gleitman's (1990) claim that children use a verb's syntactic subcategorization frames to learn its meaning. It is concluded that attention to a verb's syntactic frame might indeed help restrict the child's interpretation of the verb's perspective meaning, but there is no evidence to support some in-principle limitation in learning a verb's content.
