Annotation

On the logical connections between a human's utterances and his practical commitments, attitudes, and feelings, in particular in the religious domain. In a first part E. explores the field of self-involvement in everyday language in general on the basis of a philosophical analysis of the language of morals, and of J.L. Austin's performativeness theory; in the second part, he applies the results to a detailed analysis of the biblical conception of devine creation as a special case of religious language use.
