Annotation

This study examines how listeners integrate spoken utterances into a discourse representation. It is shown that pragmatic inference, discourse focus, and type of anaphor can effectively link utterances to discourses, and that the language comprehension system is characterized by a very flexible use of various kinds of processing information. It is discussed how these results affect Fodor's modularity hypothesis.
