Annotation

This study explores Chinese–English bilinguals' recognition of code-switched words in speech. Successful recognition is shown to depend on the interaction among phonological, structural, and contextual information in the recognition process, and is possible with the same amount of information as required by monolingual English listeners. These findings are then explained in terms of parallel activation and interactive processes in spoken word recognition.
