Annotation

This study examines pre-schoolers' ability to track a false belief in order to acquire a novel word. Children appeared to be significantly better at tracking a puppet's false belief in a word-learning task than in a standard false belief test. It is suggested that representation of mental states may appear precociously to serve communication.
