This study argues that differences in the use of intensifiers in Hebrew and English source texts and their translations, allows a better assessing of their functions as evaluators of narrative discourse; as markers of the relationship between oral and literate discourse elements; and as indicators of writer-text-reader relationships in specific rhetorical communities.
