This paper deals with talk activities in and through which interactants simulate another talk activity. Data are drawn from simulated job interviews, in which young unemployed people are supposed to learn how to act in real job interviews, but the parties simultaneously appear to orient to several other goals. This complexity allows to explore issues concerning concepts like context, frame, activity type, and genre. Some perspectives on context as developed within Conversation Analysis are challenged.
