This article examines the correlation of gender with publication and citation, for the disciplines of sociolinguistics and linguistic anthropology, over a 35-year period (1965–2000) in five key journals, and in 16 textbooks published in the 1990s, in order to explore the exclusion of women and feminist ideas in the existing scholarly canon.
