This paper presents longitudinal production data on two deaf adolescents, acquiring their first language, American Sign Language (ASL), at the ages of 12;1 and 13;7. It is demonstrated that adolescent first-language learners still suffer from linguistic isolation after being exposed to language because their language processing is not efficiently enough to recognize input patterns under normal conditions.
