The present work is derived from a committee report presented at the 2001 Congress of the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics in Montreal. It complements existing comparative research on aphasia symptoms in different languages by examining fluent as well as nonfluent aphasias, languages/dialects not previously covered (African-American English, Afrikaans, Basque, Catalan, Czech, Friulian, Spanish), and by examining previously reported languages in greater depth (Farsi, Finnish, Hebrew, Hungarian, Polish, Swedish).
