F. proposes a set of discriminations for describing and contrasting the system of grammar and vocabulary for spatial deixis in natural languages. The theoretical point of view is that of prototype semantics. The goal is to present an 'etic' descriptive framework within which systems of deictic locating expressions in different languages may be compared with each other with respect to their pragmatic, semantic, syntactic, and morphological characteristics.
